An academy for all skill levels that puts the SUPER back into soccer, our excellent staff coaches specialize in the younger age groups, so each activity is geared toward the proper age and developmentally appropriate. Sign up your child for a FUN experience of soccer and see them develop into a super player. Each child is challenged to their ability without the fear of making mistakes. We want your player to feel welcome and leave enjoying the game of soccer; excited to come back as soon as possible. This attitude will produce a super player with benefits of exercise and social awareness.

Preschool | Interactive Play

The preschool soccer (8-weeks, once a week) age group introduces the game of soccer to preschool kids through interactive play and movement education. Facilitated by qualified coaches, and having both parent(s) and player out there together playing games and interacting with the ball. FUN games and activities are use to fascinate and keep your player’s interest while developing their soccer skills. Every player has a ball while focusing on simple techniques of dribbling and shooting. Parents are with their kids when we are playing small-sided games and helping keep the game flowing.

The under-6, under-8 and under-10, under-12 (8-weeks, twice a week) age groups use an academy-approach style of player development that focuses on the player first. Players are grouped together in similar abilities to participate in fun games and activities, and then randomly placed on teams to play small-sided games of 3 vs. 3 or 4 vs. 4. We focus on techniques of dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, while introducing tactics as they mature. Each game and activity is age appropriate while challenging them to their ability.

An advanced soccer academy, nickname the ’Gunners’, is for the more highly developed player that wants to do more with the game and their soccer ability, here each player is challenged at the highest level demonstrating passion and love for the game.  Lead by Robert DeVassie, this program will provide the skills and game awareness needed to advance to the next level.

Overview

The mission of the Advanced Soccer Academy is to provide an environment for youth players in the U-8, U-9, and U-10 age groups to develop their soccer skills in preparation for playing at the most competitive youth levels. The program has a unique blend of individual skill development and competitive matches to provide an environment where each player can maximize their potential. Our partnership with other clubs and academy programs in the area, along with the partnerships with UAYSL, provides our players with an opportunity to compete against some of the best local players. Teams will be tiered within each age group to promote development for all players within the program.

Commitment

From the pool of players, teams are formed that will train and compete together for an entire year. Players train twice a week with games typically during the week in the summer and weekends during the winter. Teams may participate in 1-3 tournaments per year. With advanced soccer comes an expectation that the players have an advanced level of commitment. It is important that all players attend training and games to maximize their development.

Matches

The Advanced Academy teams will play matches primarily with teams from local clubs and academy programs, United Anchorage Youth Soccer League, Anchorage Youth Soccer League, and the Advanced Academy program. Additional matches may be scheduled with other organizations, as needed.

PLEASE NOTE: Players selected to play in league or tournaments will pay additional league and/or tournament fees.  Estimated player fees include UAYSL $90 per season and tournaments $45 per tournament; fees may vary.
